The Undertaker Returns

Triple H is once again the GAME

Too Cool/Rikishi vs Edge/Christian/Kurt Angle
This was a fast paced and exciting opening match. It was played more for laughs than anything else as no titles were on the line and all 6 men impressed with their ability and strong charisma. Eventually Too Cool won when Grandmaster Sexay hit Edge with his top rope leg drop. Afterwards Too Cool and Rikishi danced to the delight of the crowd.

Eddy Guerrero vs Saturn vs Dean Malenko (European)
A potential classic was spoiled by the age old triple threat match problem - the predictable interuption of every sure fire pinning situation. Still the match contained some great action as the 3 Radicals put on a wrestling clinic using more moves in 2 minutes than the Rock had done in the last month! Eventually Chyna interfered on behalf of Eddy and once again 'Latino Heat' was victorious.

Bigshow vs Shane McMahon
For the first 5 minutes of this contest the Bigslow threw 'Simba' about like a rag doll and it looked like it would be a real quick bout. That is until Bossman, Bull Buchanan and T & A came out one at a time to attack Bigshow. Eventually Buchanan managed to push one of the huge loud speakers on top of the Bigshow's leg and Shane followed this up with a concrete block to the head for the win. More proof if any is needed that Bigslow absolutely sucks!!

Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit (Intercontinental)
This was a vicious match from start to finish which built up slowly to a dramatic climax. Having managed to evade the 'Walls of Jericho' Benoit struck with the Crippler Crossface and try as he might Jericho could not reach the rope. As Jericho's face turned blue the referee called for the bell and awarded the match to Benoit.

X-Pac/Roaddog vs Dudley Boys
An average table match ended with the predictable knocking out of the referee followed by interference by Gerald Brisco. Afterwards Brisco was given the 3-D through a table.

Triple H vs Rock (World Title, Iron Man)
w/ Shawn Michaels as referee!
This was an awesome display of endurance by both men. Triple H showed some guts by telling the McMahons to go back stage and leave him to face the Rock one on one. It started very slowly with neither man wanting to expend too much energy early on, after about 10 minutes though they kicked it up a gear and from then on the match was all full on high impact action. Unlike the legendary Iron Man Match between HBK and the Hitman the match was peppered with 3 counts. Speaking of HBK through out the entire match he called it right down the middle. Anyway after each man had tasted the others finishing move more than once the score was 5 falls each with only a minute and a half to go. Suddenly though all hell broke loose as all the McMahons and D-X charged to the ring to interfere, one at a time the Rock knocked them back until he was overwhelmed and knocked to the ground. Suddenly the Undertaker roared into view on a motorbike, he then preceded to chokeslam and throw the entire McMahon/D-X group out of the ring. Then he tombstoned Triple H just as referee Shawn Michaels recovered (he was knocked over in the fighting), seeing the Undertaker interfere Shawn had no choice but to DQ the Rock and award Triple H the winning fall. As the show went off the air the McMahon helped an exausted but victorious Triple H back to the locker rooms.

WWF Backlash 30/04/00

X-Pac & Roaddog vs Edge & Christian (Tag Titles)
This was an entertaining encounter but a little too short. The match ended when Edge hit X-PAc with the ring bell and pinned him to ensure the D-X jabronis didn't win the titles.

Dean Malenko vs Scotty Too Hotty (LH Title)
Damn this was an excellent match! Both men performed brilliantly to produce a great technical wrestling match. The end came when Malenko reversed a Scotty suplex into a top rope DDT for the pin.

The Acolytes vs Bossman & Buchanan
Snore, yawn ..... oh the Acolytes tried bless them but no one can make the Bossman seem interesting. Absolutely no one gave a damn about B&B so when they won no one in the audience could have cared less.

Kurt Angle vs The Bigshow
Well this was kind of funny I suppose. The Bigshow came out dressed as Hulk Hogan and preceded to perform all of his taunts and moves. Sadly the match was god awful and worse still the ultra charismatic Angle was completely squashed by the Big "very fat" Show. What a waste!!!

T & A vs Dudley Boys
This very average match ended when Test pinned Bubba Dudley. Afterwards Bubba put Trish Stratus through a table which lead to Trish being stretchered away to a waiting ambulance.

Eddy Guerrero vs Essa Rios (European Title)
This was another exciting match which should have gone on longer. On numerous occasions Rios almost pulled off the upset, but eventually Eddy scored the pin. Afterwards Lita managed to embarrass Chyna by pulling off her dress leaving her in only her bra and knickers (this was not a pretty sight, although Eddy sure seemed to like it).

Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho (IC Title)
A great match marred by a terrible cheap ending. After 10 - 15 minutes of superb action Jericho used the title belt to hit Benoit (after Benoit had done the same to him). Sadly the ref saw what happened and DQ'ed Jericho, an irate Y2J put the ref in the 'Walls of Jericho' much to the delight of the crowd.

Hardcore 6 Man Match
This was absolute mayhem, but became very tiresome after the upteenth finishing move was broken up. Crash Holly eventually retained the title.

THE MAIN EVENT

The Rock vs Triple H w/ Shane as referee (World Title)
This was an entertaining brawl from start to finish. We all know the Rock is a very limited wrestler but he can still produce exciting matches when he sticks to what he does best - brawling. Highlights of the match included a double Rock Bottom on Triple H & Shane. The end of the match was predicatable enough, just as The Rock was about to be beaten, after a DX run in, out charged Austin with a chair. He then preceded to knock out all of the McMahon family and The Rock pinned Triple H to finally win back the world title. Afterward The Rock and Austin shared some beers.
